Benidorm's most beautiful beaches!

Benidorm is one of Spain's most popular holiday destinations. And for a good reason! The city is known for its vibrant atmosphere and modern skyline. You can enjoy cozy restaurants and numerous nightlife venues; go for lovely walks and bike rides or enjoy excursions. Visit one of the theme parks, go to Benidorm Palace, or choose from one of the many water sports activities.

Anyone booking a holiday to Benidorm undoubtedly wants to enjoy the sun, sea, and beaches. Playa Levante and Playa Poniente are the most famous beaches. However, there are also several other, smaller beaches and coves that are definitely worth a visit!

For example, on the north side of Benidorm, you'll find two small coves: Cala del Tio Ximo and Cala Almadrava.

CALA DEL TIO XIMO

Small and idyllic!

This small and tranquil cove is located north of Levante Beach. Ideal for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the popular beaches. From Rincon de Loix, you can easily walk there in about 15 minutes. Follow the road towards the lighthouse and you'll see Cala del Tio Ximo right in front of you. The cove is surrounded by rugged cliffs, creating an idyllic atmosphere.

There are no bars or other facilities at the beach, so it's recommended to bring your own food and drinks.

TIP: Bring a snorkel, as the rocks make Cala del Tio Ximo an ideal spot to explore the beautiful rocky seabed and underwater world.

CALA ALMADRAVA

Snorkeling paradise!

Like Cala del Tio Ximo, Cala Almadrava is located at the foot of the Sierra Helada. This approximately 100-meter-wide beach is accessible via Carrer Dos Calas, where you'll also find parking. From there, you can walk down the slope and reach the cove in just a few minutes. You'll find peace and relaxation, along with a rocky seabed teeming with marine life; an ideal spot for anyone who enjoys swimming, snorkeling, and diving.

Numerous coves and crannies in the rocks provide shelter for small anemones, fish, and a few inconspicuous crustaceans. Besides the rocky seabed, you'll also find underwater seagrass meadows covered with characteristic white algae (Padina pavonica). Snorkeling is almost guaranteed to spot sardines, often swimming among the seagrass leaves!

CALA DEL MAL PAS

The hidden gem

Between the popular Playa Levante and Poniente beach lies the small beach of Cala del Mal Pas. It is also called the hidden gem, because the beach and bay are somewhat hidden behind the rocks near the Balcon Mediterraneo, the harbor, and the historic center of Benidorm.

The beach is child-friendly due to its small size (approximately 120 meters wide) and the relatively calm sea. Here you can enjoy a small, intimate beach; close yet far from the crowds.

Did you know…?

In the sea in front of the beach at Cala del Mal Pas lies an underwater platform: La Llosa. This is an important marine reserve with beautiful underwater landscapes; a true paradise for diving enthusiasts.

CALA DE FINESTRAT

Cozy and inviting!

Just outside the center of Benidorm, towards Villajoyosa, lies Cala de Finestrat. Here too, you can enjoy the sun, sea, and and the beach. Like the aforementioned bays, the beach is known as a quieter alternative for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Playa Levante and Playa Poniente. The beach is popular with families and families with children because of its shallow water, available children's activities, and relatively calm sea. You'll find several charming beach bars and restaurants.

Cala de Finestrat is also highly appreciated by snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. The seabed is diverse and offers a colorful display of fish, coral, and even underwater caves.
