Playa Poniente Benidorm

Benidorm's most beautiful beaches

Playa Poniente: quieter than Levante Beach, but just as beautiful!

The golden beaches are Benidorm's pride and joy and one of the city's biggest attractions. All beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag.

Playa Poniente is Benidorm's longest beach, located south of the harbor and the Balcon Mediterranee. Stretching for over 3 kilometers, it is especially popular with Spanish tourists. The amenities are excellent. You can fully enjoy the sun, sea, and sand, but also play beach volleyball, soccer, test your fitness and flexibility on one of the gymnastics equipment, or choose from the various water sports on offer. There are several playgrounds for the youngest holidaymakers, and from Easter to October, you'll find two medical centers.

Walking tip: from Elche Parque to Tossal de Cala

A beautiful promenade runs along Poniente beach. Stroll from the always bustling, lively Elche Park on the side of the old town, along the beach or along the promenade towards Tossal de Cala. Along the promenade, you'll find several charming terraces and eateries.

At the end, at Tossal de Cala, you can visit the "castellum," an archaeological site. The fort that once stood here was part of a network of Roman military coastal fortifications along the Marina Alta and Marina Baixa. The forts were often built on cliffs, making them difficult to access and providing the Romans with a safe vantage point to keep an eye on potential enemies by sea. Tossal de Cala is open daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Guided tours are offered regularly on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Did you know…?

The promenade along Poniente Beach was designed in collaboration with Spanish architects, who wanted to reflect the rhythm and waves of the sea in its design. As you stroll along the promenade, you'll undoubtedly recognize its flowing design.
