Altea
Just a 15-minute drive from Siroco – Gemelos 22, you will discover a completely different atmosphere: whitewashed streets, art galleries, cosy terraces and panoramic views of the Costa Blanca.
The charming historic centre
The historic centre of Altea, also known as El Casco Antiguo, is undoubtedly the most characterful part of the town. As soon as you walk up the hill, you leave the modern coast behind and enter a world of whitewashed houses, cobbled streets and colourful flowers hanging gracefully from balconies. The narrow alleys wind their way upwards and invite you to get lost without a plan – that's what makes a visit here so special.
As you slowly walk uphill, the streets occasionally open up to small squares with panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. On clear days, the view stretches far along the coastline, creating an impressive backdrop, especially around sunset.
Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Consuelo
At the top of the hill, you reach the heart of the old town: the iconic Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Consuelo with its distinctive blue dome. Around the church square, there is a relaxed, stylish atmosphere where you can enjoy tapas, a good glass of wine and the quiet pace of Spanish life on a terrace.

Art, culture and boutiques
Altea has been regarded as an artists' village on the Costa Blanca for many years. As soon as you walk into the old town, you will notice that creativity here is not just a marketing term, but a visible and tangible part of everyday life. Among the white façades and cobbled streets, you will find small galleries, studios and craft shops that give the village a distinct cultural character.
Instead of large chain stores, you will discover unique boutiques with handmade jewellery, ceramics, paintings and fashion items that you won't find anywhere else. Many entrepreneurs are artists or designers themselves, giving each product a personal story. This makes shopping in Altea not just a quick purchase, but an experience in itself.
A relaxed seaside promenade in Altea
In addition to its charming old town, Altea is also known for its atmospheric promenade along the Mediterranean Sea. This promenade is quiet, well-maintained and lined with palm trees.
In contrast to busier seaside resorts, there is a relaxed, almost elegant atmosphere here. No noisy nightlife, but cosy terraces, small-scale restaurants and cafés where you can sit back and relax with a view of the sea. During the day, you can stroll along the water while fishing boats bob in the distance; in the afternoon, the boulevard becomes a popular spot for a quiet evening walk.
Altea has a modern and stylish marina where elegant sailing boats and luxury yachts are moored.
Temple of the Archangel Michael
The Temple of the Archangel Michael is not located in the historic centre of Altea, but about 8 kilometres away in the hills of the Sierra de Altea.
The Temple de l'Arcàngel Miquel is a Russian Orthodox church in the hills of Altea. The building immediately stands out with its blue and gold domes and is built in traditional Byzantine style.
It is the first Russian Orthodox church to be built in Spain and forms a striking architectural contrast to the whitewashed houses of Altea. The church is located in a peaceful, green setting and is used for religious services as well as visited for its unique appearance and location.
💡 Tip: Combine a visit to this church with a drive through the hills of Altea la Vella. This will allow you to experience a completely different side of Altea: quieter, greener and with panoramic views.
