Public transport in Benidorm

For many holidaymakers it is always a bit of a puzzle to figure out how public transport works. In Benidorm, public transport is well organised! There are many buses and most places in Benidorm and the surrounding area can be easily reached by public transport. This certainly applies to tourist attractions, sights and places in the area that are worth visiting. Of course it is also wonderful to stroll through Benidorm and discover the city on foot. But if you are less mobile, the distance is simply too great or you prefer convenience, then use the bus, tram or train. Or buy a ticket for one of the hop-on hop-off city trip buses.

Bus in Benidorm

There are two organisations responsible for the bus lines in Benidorm: ALSA and Llorente. Llorente mainly provides local bus lines, while ALSA generally provides longer distances.

Different fares apply for the different buses. More information about this can be found HERE. The easiest way is often a single ticket via the driver or a multi-trip card (BONO bus). You can buy this ticket from the driver for a small amount and then charge it with €10 or €20. You can have the card debited for several people if you travel by bus.

From Rincon de Loix you can easily take the bus to the old town or, for example, to the La Marina shopping centre. The theme parks are also easily accessible by bus. The nearest bus stop is in front of Hotel Dynastic, right next to Gemelos 22. Check the signs at the bus stop to see which side of the road you should wait on!

PLEASE NOTE: Do you have a dog? Please note that they are not allowed on the buses, even if they are in a bag. Only guide dogs are allowed.

Hop-on Hop-off buses Benidorm

For those who like to see a lot of Benidorm in a short time, there are the hop-on hop-off buses. There are two lines in Benidorm. Bus 30 runs through Benidorm to Cala de Finestrat. And bus 31 runs from Benidorm to Albir and Altea. You can get on at the Casino on Av. Del Mediterráneo and tickets can be purchased from the driver. During the journey you will be provided with tourist information in several languages (including English and Spanish). You can get on and off at all stops. For an overview of all boarding points and more information, see the overview above of all Benidorm bus lines.

Tram / train to Alicante and Dénia

For those who want to go to Alicante, Dénia or Calpe, for example, the train is a good option. It is a narrow gauge line and that is why some people call it a train, others a tram. When “El Trén” is referred to in Benidorm, it usually refers to the train to Alicante or Dénia. The station is located at Av. Beniarda. There are several buses that can take you here if you do not want to walk. For example, line 1 runs from Rincon de Loix to the station.

At the station you can buy a ticket at the machine or the counter. You can take the train in two directions. On the one hand, towards Alicante with stops at Terra Mitica and Villajoyosa, among others. And on the other hand, you can take the train towards Dénia. This stops in Altea and Calpe, among others. The trains run fairly frequently.

Please note that trams from both directions stop in Benidorm and the driver then changes places to depart again. This can cause confusion, so check carefully which platform you need to be on.

Bus to Guadalest

Guadalest is one of the must-see places in the area of Benidorm. Many guests book an excursion or go to Guadalest with their own (rental) car. If you do not have your own transport and do not want to book an excursion, you can also take the local bus to Guadalest in the summer months. Bus 16 leaves from Hotel Bali and runs from there via various boarding points. The bus is full=full. In high season, it may therefore be that you have no more space when you board in Rincon de Loix and cannot get on. If all seats are occupied, the driver is not allowed to take any more people. It can therefore be worthwhile to go to the starting point at Hotel Bali! The bus goes there and back once a day. Therefore, make sure you are back at the bus in Guadalest well in time! Please see the above overview of all bus lines for the boarding points.

Bus to Fuentes de Algar and the Dinopark

Bus 18 also only runs during the summer months. With this bus you can make a trip to the Fuentes de Algar (or the Algar waterfalls). Definitely recommended on a sunny, warm day! You can swim here and because of the vegetation there is a lot of shade around the waterfalls and pools. Just like the bus to Guadalest, bus 18 runs once a day there and once a day back. For the route and times, see the general overview of the buses.

TIP: within walking distance of the waterfalls you will find the Dinopark, also fun to visit with children.
